Dr Salman Younas
Dr Salman Younas is a Lecturer in Islamic Studies focusing on classical Islamic law, the history of law, legal philosophy, and contemporary legal thought.
He received his DPhil from Oxford University. His thesis focused on the formation and evolution of the Ḥanafī legal school during the 3rd/9th and 4th/10th centuries.
Prior to joining Cambridge Muslim College, Dr Younas was the Hamad bin Jassim Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies. His research interests are in Islamic intellectual and social history, with a focus on Islamic law, legal theory, and contemporary thought.

Dr Sohail Hanif
Dr Sohail Hanif became National Zakat Foundation’s Chief Executive in November 2021. Prior to this, he held the position of BA Manager and Lecturer at Cambridge Muslim College.
From 2015-17, he was NZF’s Head of Research and Development and has also held the position of Head of Sciences at Qasid Arabic Institute in Amman.
He won the 2019 BRAIS-De Gruyter prize for his DPhil dissertation entitled ‘A Theory of Early Classical Ḥanafism: Authority, Rationality and Tradition in the Hidāyah of Burhān al-Dīn ‘Alī ibn Abī Bakr al-Marghīnānī (d. 593/1197),’ which presents a legal epistemology of early classical Hanafi thought.

Umer Suleman
Umer Suleman is an established figure in Islamic Finance. Starting his career within the Big Four and later holding senior executive roles at major finance institutions in London, Umer has been active in the field for the last 15 years.
He works closely with various industry and prominent scholars on Shari’ah structuring and product development.
Currently, Umer leads as Global Head of Risk, Compliance & Shari’ah for Wahed, is a board member of the UKIFC, and co-founded both National Waqf Fund and Islamic Finance Advisory. Umer is Chief Islamic Finance & Commercial Officer at IFA.
